I just had to share a few killer ideas that I found online. Well, if you are like me than your mind is already starting to do that "Get rid of all this clutter! I need to change everything! I have so many ideas for next year!" I am trying SUPER hard to keep my mind focused on this year but big changes are happening for next year and so I can't help after work spending HOURS on Amazon, TPT, Pinterest and more searching for ideas! I'm moving down to second grade people! I am SO EXCITED! But trying to wrap my head around a new school and new classroom can be a bit of a challenge. Make your life easier and let the student show their parents their personal progress at SEP's using their data folder! Do something you can track all year and that can be consistent for parents to look at that shows their child's progress.Ħ) Use them for Conferences. Put yourself in their shoes.ĥ) Don't Add Things. They also don't know that CFA is a Common Formative Assessment. They don't know that GVC stands for Guaranteed Viable Curriculum, and we all know they don't even know what that means even if you did write it out.

You don't want to send home a data sheet that says at the top GVC CFA Test. This is another reason to stick to data collection on things that are 1)the most essential things 2) items that everyone can understand. Nothing is worse than going to all of that work to prepare folders to share data and having parents/students feel like it is gibberish to them and doesn't make any sense. It saves my hair from falling out!Ĥ) Make Sure Parents/Students Understand It. Math facts they put their stickers in as they pass off tests and they are completely in charge of that all on their own.

We put in our math scores directly after tests are corrected and we update reading once a month. That is why I do math chapter tests, math facts, reading level, and fluency. We only have so many hours in the day, and spending an hour once a week updating data is not going to be fun.

You can put data sheets for days in those data folders! I promise you will hate your life for doing that. It will save you from a lot of headache (I can only say that because I speak from personal experience!).ģ) Keep It Simple. As well as cleaning it all up when they drop it on the floor and papers go EVERYWHERE! Use pronged folders with pockets for grade K - 3. Upper grades can handle the whole 3 hole punch and open and close of the binder. If paper folders are your only option laminate them and then cut the pockets open.Ģ) Folders for Little, Binders for Upper. Paper ones seem to get beat up and fall apart easily. Hopefully what I have to say is helpful to you! If you would like any of these things put up on TPT pretty please let me know! Happy Summering!ġ) Use Plastic Folders Not Paper. I've been perfecting them for 3 years now! When i first looked in to homework and data folders i found lots of things and I didn't really like any of them so I took a few things here and a few things there and made them my own. Here's a little peak at my homework/data folders with a few recommendations for you.
